....For example, by 10am on Saturday morning, Mr. ATA came down from upstairs wearing black trousers and a black shirt. He put on his black sunglasses because he knew that people who wear black glasses look very classy. He also wore a farin glass that made him look even more handsome, and sometimes he would also wear a cap.
When Mr. Mahafiyarasa entered, he greeted him and removed his sunglasses very politely because he knew Mr. ATA liked that. He said he had brought him the Daily Trust newspaper and that he had kept a copy for him. So every day he would come and check the newspaper.
Downstairs, Maryam had come out talking about the decorations for Maryam daughter of Aunty Zabiba’s birthday that they were going to hold that day. "I’ve finished the parlour decorations. Mr. ATA will host the event."
She spoke and looked, but Mr. ATA didn’t even look her way because he was busy with something. Since she was in a hurry to leave the house, she just agreed and went to where she was supposed to be, but she wasn’t happy about it.
As she entered, she composed herself and said in a low voice "good morning, Adam". But it was already 10:02am and she didn’t get a reply. Later she heard a faint voice from upstairs: "Morning!" Mr. ATA replied but didn’t look at her.
Maryam’s heart was hurt. She took her younger sister’s position and answered, but she was the only one who answered. She was busy because the people working had been told what to do for the birthday since yesterday, and she had finished everything. But Mr. ATA didn’t even look at her or talk to her. He acted like he didn’t care, and she didn’t like that at all.
Then after all that stress, she went downstairs and made coffee for him. When he came to sit at the dining table, she brought him a cup of coffee. He was wearing sunglasses, so she couldn’t see his eyes. She placed it and went back to the room to get dressed, but her face was sad because of how he treated her.
"Even if he’s older than me, he shouldn’t act like he can’t see me," she thought, "and he shouldn’t act like that in the family. Everyone in the family knows he acts like this. Sometimes he even says nonsense or jokes inappropriately. He’s the type that gets angry quickly and shouts. Sometimes he’s very difficult, and he gets into things that don’t concern him. He causes a lot of problems and doesn’t like it. But I don’t care. Let him do whatever he wants."
He was also muttering to himself, and if you looked closely you’d see he was with his mom. Sometimes he doesn’t even know what he’s doing, and he won’t admit his mistake.
